Point Reyes is such a fun escape from Petaluma and we captured some fun family photos of Marina, Harley and their kiddos, Penelope and Hudson. I took one look at Marina’s dress and I was like oh yeah we are gonna do some twirls with that! 💃 Luckily, they just moved from San Anselmo to Petaluma so we get to hang out more often with this awesome family!

This is the 3rd year I’ve photographed these twins, Madison and Julia and they are getting saucy! 🍝 They rocked out 🤟🏼for me with their hair all over the place and we chased bubbles 🏃♀️ for days!Here’s to 4️⃣ years old and discovering the world in your own unique ways!

The Covers family portraits were shot in the mustard fields of Petaluma in Sonoma County. I photographed them in an artistic style for a photo session in a local magazine called Historic Life of Petaluma. These photographs were shot photo journalistically and laid out in an editorial style with a write up of this beautiful family and the Foundry Wharf which is a warehouse district the Cover family owns down by the Petaluma River. The Foundry Wharf houses Aqus Cafe and many other business and boutique shops. Photographing the children was a delight as I let them run around their parents properties and shoot them in true photo journalism style which is how I think kids convey their true selves.

Is there anything more inviting than a door? I love framing children and families in doors in their family portrait photography. It’s like a welcoming in of sorts and natural light is usually also at it’s best in the frame of a doorway. It’s not unusual for me to take a jaunt around a family’s neighborhood looking for great backdrops for family and children’s portraits in Sonoma and Marin County. These little spitfire girls were bursting with personality and I had a ton of fun photographing them in this lifestyle shoot.

The Bailey Family has no shortage of personality with these darling children which makes shooting their family portraits so fun and dynamic. I love how they wore flower crowns in their family portrait shoot and we walked deep onto the hillside at an open lot in Petaluma to take advantage of the verdant foliage abound. I mean look at these adorable girls and their parents aren’t so bad either. Renee is the sweetest momma ever and I’m happy to be their family portrait photographer.

Children’s and Family Portraiture is all about making it fun and comfortable for everyone. Because deep down we all want to be seen and heard and shine! Natural lighting for family and children’s portraits is also key as you want it be dynamic but I like to shoot with the most shallow depth of field so you have beautiful bokeh. That way the children or family you are shooting is the star of the photograph and the background enhances it by looking like a gorgeous Monet painting. And voila! Look at these two sisters whom I just adore to pieces and in fact so does my son, Hudson. So stinking cute are Lucia and Mila. xoxo

I am oh so lucky to have been the birthday photographer for this lovely lady since she turned one. This is her 3rd birthday and I cherish every second. I love being a children’s portrait photographer and Tiburon delivers spectacular backdrops. Marin birthday parties for children are a blast and I love that I get to be the photographer documenting all these perfect little moments that make up a family.

Look at this radiant red truck all primed and ready to take holiday portraits on and load a couple of Christmas trees up on top! I love photographing Family and children’s portraits for the holidays, These were shot in Sebastopol in, Sonoma County. We also found the most gorgeous persimmons tree with the orange colors so decided to take some photos for fall too–Why Not? I love being a photographer and getting to shoot these awesome families with natural light in all these delicious locations with these artistic photo backgrounds!
