If you haven’t visited Petaluma in Sonoma County in the fall then you should put it on your list and if you can schedule a family and children’s portrait photography session than you are golden. The fall colors are gorgeous and there are so many trails to use as backdrops in your family portraits with using just natural light. These two little girls are adorable and they had so much fun running up and down the hill we were on. The key is to make children’s portraiture fun so you get their little personalities at their best. Here’s to making memories!

Children’s and Family Portraiture is all about making it fun and comfortable for everyone. Because deep down we all want to be seen and heard and shine! Natural lighting for family and children’s portraits is also key as you want it be dynamic but I like to shoot with the most shallow depth of field so you have beautiful bokeh. That way the children or family you are shooting is the star of the photograph and the background enhances it by looking like a gorgeous Monet painting. And voila! Look at these two sisters whom I just adore to pieces and in fact so does my son, Hudson. So stinking cute are Lucia and Mila. xoxo

So much fun photographing the Vallone Family in Petaluma in Sonoma County. I also got to use their gorgeous house in the historic district of Petaluma as the backdrop for their family portraits and of course take children’s portraits of their beautiful little boy for the Historic District of Petaluma Magazine. I love shooting documentary and lifestyle photography as I get to be a bit of a spy in other’s people lives for a couple moments.

The Ferrettis family portraits were shot at Howarth Park in Santa Rosa, CA. I loved the beautiful moss growing everywhere from all the rain so I photographed the childrens portraits while they were playing in a documenty style. The colors were highly saturated and their images are full of vitality and love. What a fun shoot to be a family photographer on as I adore this cute family!
