engagement Photography Session at Dillion Beach -Caitlin + Nick

There’s nothing more mystical than an engagement photography session out at Dillion Beach when it’s super foggy. We stomped around the water’s edge with the jagged rocky coast, climbed up to the vibrant succulent cliffs and creeped under the Eucalyptus tree Tunnels tucked away on the beach. We had a ball celebrating their wedding engagement and the photos reflect just that!

I always get asked is an engagement photography session necessary and I would say a resounding YES! First of all it’s super fun and you get to connect with your fiance in a way you never have. And secondly, it really allows you to get to know your wedding photographer and the way they work. Then, on your wedding day you have that feeling of trust and, “Oh yes, I remember this!” It really helps you relax on the day of your wedding because you’ve done some of these poses and have seen the engagment session photos and know how it came out! So, Yes, Hire a professional wedding photographer for an engagement session before the big day! Here are some photos from engagement sessions I have photographed in the San Francisco Bay area, Napa Valley and Sonoma.

This engagement photo was taken at Fort Point right smack under the Golden Gate Bridge. It has spectacular views of San Francisco and the bay on the rooftop.

Fun and so in love is what this wedding engagement photo says and we took advantage of magic hour in the vineyards close to the Estate at Villagio in Yountville where they were getting married.

A Silhouette kiss under the Golden Gate Bridge when the sun is really golden is a perfect wedding engagement photo and one to frame for sure!

Finding a rustic barn with character and patina is perfect as a backdrop for a wedding engagement photo. I love the ease and casualness in this photograph.

Night time wedding engagement photography on a pier in San Francisco is so dramatic as the lights just add to the allure! I love this emotional engagement photo!

Posing at Fort Point in the many cozy crevices lends for a very creative and artistic wedding engagement photograph!

Engagement photography sessions are such fun and it gives me and my clients to get to know each other before their wedding. I can give direction that might sound funny but after my clients see the photos they understand why I had them do it. Then, on the day of their beautiful wedding they remember what I said so there is a trust and understanding of how the process works. I had so much fun getting Aime and Brian to laugh and put their attention on each other. They have such a great love for each other and it shows in their engagment photos!

So sometimes the internet can work in mysterious ways and Murali and Prista found my work online from Singapore and wanted to do an engagement session while they were in San Francisco.  We had a blast together and I hope they are snuggled as two bugs in a rug back in Singapore.  xoxo
